I love this...BUT...

See my update following my review.
My review is based on having the product attached to a bedside laptop table/stand which is similar to Wood Adjustable Rolling Computer Laptop Desk Computer Desk Educational Desk.
This is almost the ideal way to use a tablet in bed. First of all, let me explain how it works.
There's a 20" gooseneck with a clamp at one end and a ball and socket joint on the other. The clamp can open wide enough to fit just about anything you might want to attach it to. A bracket holder attaches securely onto the ball and socket joint.
It comes with two bracket holders. One is made to fit an iPad and is not adjustable. I don't own an iPad so I can't comment on that holder. The other holder is adjustable and holds my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 perfectly and securely. The tablet can be removed and reattached quickly and easily.
The ball and socket joint allows the tablet to be turned and adjusted to suit whatever position is preferred. Up and down, back and forth horizontally, landscape and portrait. Of course the gooseneck can be bent into a myriad of positions to suit a user's needs. When not in use, it's easy enough to bend the gooseneck up and out of the way. Why I don't suggest pushing it horizontally out of the way, I'll explain in a bit.
The holder is extremely well made and solid. While using the tablet on it, there's virtually no movement unless you're typing, and even then movement is minimal and not a distraction or inconvenience.
There are a couple of problems that prevent it from being the perfect solution and is the reason for a four star rating instead of five.
I'll start at the clamp end and why it's not a good idea to push the tablet aside horizontally to get it out of one's way. The gooseneck is solidly attached to the clamp so that if you do push it away on a horizontal plane, the clamp itself will rotate. This is definitely not desirable as it loosens the clamp and makes the tablet less secure unless the clamp is re-tightened.
The other problem is that the gooseneck just isn't long enough. The ideal solution would make it possible to position the tablet directly in front of the user, if desired, or a little off to the side. Due to it's length, the best it can achieve is a bit to the side. This position is ideal if watching TV while using a tablet, but less convenient if reading a book, heavy typing or doing anything else which requires the tablet to be directly in front of the user.
All in all, despite its shortcomings (sorry), it is extremely convenient to have my tablet so accessible while I'm in bed and it makes using my tablet in bed so much more enjoyable.

After 5 months of heavy use, unfortunately I've had to lower my rating from 4 stars to 2. There are some flaws inherent to the design that have come to the fore with constant use.
First, the rubber pads that are on the brackets, and come into contact with the tablet, can slide off when pulling the tablet out. If you don't notice it right away, they can easily be lost. I've lost one and had to improvise my own padding since underneath the rubber pads is hard, sharp steel.
The worst problem, and one that will eventually turn this thing into junk, is the mechanism for tightening the brackets to keep the tablet secure. There are little levers on each bracket that slide back and forth. Slide them one way and you can adjust the size. Sliding the other way, locks the brackets in place. The way it works is sort of like brake pads on a car's wheels. Pushing the lever to lock pushes some sort of "pad" against the bracket in order for the bracket to stay locked into place.
But the design is flawed. After repeated loosening and tightening, the mechanism becomes more and more ineffective at keeping the tablet secure. No matter how tight and secure it starts, the brackets become so loose, the tablet can easily slide right out. To the point where I can't even turn it into portrait position. A much better method of locking the brackets would have been some sort of thumb screw.
It is probably perfect for an iPad since the bracket for that is not adjustable. I'm searching for a better solution for a 10" tablet. If I find one, I'll post an update.

Studying!!!
By Ryan J Kim
This is product is great and I highly recommend it to people that want to use it in bed. It is VERY sturdy and holds your ipad or tablet very well. It will not bend from the weight of your ipad/tablet. I was worried that this product wasn't going to hold but it does, even when you press on your ipad it doesn't sway or give. I currently go to medical school and have to work long hours in the hospital on my surgery rotation, sometimes from 4am to 8pm daily with no weekends, and the last thing I want to do when I get home is study, especially on a table. So what I did was upload my medical textbooks on my ipad and I hung my ipad over my bed using this mount! and when I got tired, I just turn off my ipad and let it hang over my head. It could be a little bit longer, but it's just long enough where you could hang it over your head using the headboard of your bed. I would get another one to hold my phone, but I already in so much debt from school loans.

Solid mounting
By Dana Hall
The mounting and arm is strong. The weak link is the interchangable mounts, they don't click/lock onto the arm so if you bump it it falls off. I used a rubberband to hold it in place. Would not put this in a car as a bumpy ride would jiggle it loose. Once in place it works great.
