Works well for animals that chew wires...

A few years ago, I rescued a half-dead stray kitten and spent a bundle of money on vet bills to save her. To repay my kindness, she decided that she would chew every electrical wire and cord that she possible could. Before I "discovered" wire loom, she destroyed my scanner cords, 2 laptop power cords, several phone cords, a few stereo wires, and the electrical cord to a fan. Needless to say, that was quite annoying, as well as expensive.
Someone told me about this stuff, and I bought a few small packages of it. It's quite a bit more expensive at the auto supply store because the packages are small. I started covering cords with it. The cat still tries to chew it, but she quickly gives up now. You get 100 feet of the wire loom, which comes in a big box that probably cost more to ship than the price of the item itself. (Thank goodness for free Super Saver Shipping and Prime shipping.) I ended up using a couple of boxes of this stuff by the time I got the whole house covered, but I literally covered every cord in the house.
I've bought this in both the 1/4" version and the 1/2" version. The smaller one is good for skinnier things like cell phone chargers, phone lines, etc. It's also good for things you want to be more flexible, like your curling iron cord. However, it's too small for some applications. The 1/2" version works well for most electrical cords. The 1" version is way too big for anything, in my opinion.
Oh, and as for the cat? Surprisingly, she never managed to electrocute herself, which is a small miracle. Since she can't chew on electrical wires now, she has turned her attentions to our shoelaces instead. :)

My cats can no longer chew my cables, works exactly how I need it to. Would recommend to anyone who has sharp toothed, cable chewing cats.

Very good for single cable coverage

This 1/4 inch size fits very nicely over single electric cables. For anything more than one electric cable or one Ethernet cable, use a larger diameter (also available here on amazon.com). I am using this to avoid kitty from chewing cables and so far that is working out fine... even if she decides to chew this coil she won't easily be biting through it to the cable inside. Some patience will be required to cover long cable lengths and you may end up with sore fingers, but this is a good product.
